8x4 5/27/06

I have been obsessed with pedometer in the last several entries. Today I made over 13,000! But anyway, I failed to mention I have changed my weight lifting routines. My workout log has not changed for forever, which means I have been doing the same old thing. Besides my biggest goal is to keep exercising and not being very challenging. Now that I feel more time is available for the workout, I decided to change 4 sets of 8 reps. I have been doing 3 sets of 12 reps forever. Theoretically this will allow me to lift heavier weights. I have been closely monitoring how I feel and adding more weight to some exercises. So far no injuries or anything bad has happened, but not a whole lot of soreness either. I hope to do 8x4 until the semester starts and build some muscles. In late July or early August, my hope is to visit Albuquerque again and go up to the Sandia Mountain. It is going to be very warm, so I hope to gain strength in muscles and endurance.

1st day on the floor 5/26/06

I realized even if I wanted to, I probably could walk the dog once a day. I have been scheduled to close at every shift I got. So I made about 3,000 steps with the morning walk and with a quick shopping, I was about 5,000 steps before I went in at 4. The first day back on the floor result? It is over 18,000 steps. That makes 640 calories burnt and with the cardio I did at the gym, I burnt about 1,000 calories. I guess I can eat whatever I want?!?

latin pop in the gym 5/25/06

Because Fat Burner constantly asks to hold the bar to get the heart rate, I gave up on reading anything on the machine. So I have been happy listening to the music and watch the music video and skim the TV channels. Today I was not paying too much attention and realized there were two songs, latin pop line, came on! And this is not Gloria Estefan (she sings more in English), not Julio Iglesias and Shakira singing in English. It was Chyenne. One of my favorite singers from Puerto Rico. I was glued to his music video as he is not only a good singer, but also a good looking guy and a fabulous dancer. I never understand why he is more popular. He did a movie with Venessa Williams and I am sure he sang there in English, too, but he never flew in Hollywooed. I guess he has enough faithful fans to stay around in latin pop music scene, but I think he should be more popular like a fellow Puerto Rican, Ricky Martin. But anyway, I never heard this song before and it was in Spanish. Then later I realized they had another song in Spanish. I hear his voice all the time, but I never learned the name. Maybe if I watch channel 445 Music Choice on cable, I will come across his name.

long walks alone don't make it 5/24/06

I decided to walk the dog twice a day, morning and evening. I also came up with a longer loop to the nearby lake/park. I did that both times today, but that and sitting at home alone doesn't make 10,000 steps. Although I went to a quick grocery shopping to make fresh squeezed OJ, I made it only about 5,000. I don't work tomorrow either and I don't know my neighbor is in a good condition enough to visit Japanese garden in Ft. Worth. Of course, I have tons of things to take care of on computer, so I dunno. I may have another non 10,000 step day tomorrow.

public transportation 5/23/06

Today I made an appointment with a mechanic in downtown. I was so focused on trying to get there by car (normally I would have tried to take the train) and I didn't realize it meant having no car for the day and I was in downtown. Luckily Dallas has fair public transportation and with SMU ID, everything is totally free. I did enough research for Donnie's vacation, so I had no problem getting around. First I took DART train and went to Mockingbird station where I took Express bus to campus. I spoke with Rosemary and did research what I wanted to do for the next several hours. I did backwards to Cityplace station and spend a couple of hours in West Village eating and watching a movie. Today was a fruitful day because I made it to the gym and had a really workout and walked the dog twice, short in the morning and long in the evening. So all this made more than 14,000 steps! The dog is happy and I am happy. Also the car turned out to be OK. Very good day.

didn't make it to the gym, but over 10,000 steps! 5/22/06

I plan to go to the gym everyday, but things come up, so during the semester I only make it about 3-4 times a week. Today I was scheduled to be in at 10am and I gave up on going to the gym in the morning. Back in Albuquerque, where Defined was an easy five minute drive and Sears was easy 10 minute drive to the store floor, I used to get up when I get up and get my workout done and make it to 10am shift. I have to do backwards calculating if I want to do it. However the rest of the week, I am closing and that is how things happened most of the time during the holidays. Maybe I won't have to come in at 10am anymore. I came up with a longer loop for dog walk and did that this morning. I also took a shorter walk just now. Out of four hour shift, I was sitting in the training room for about three hours today, but even so, with Wal-Mart shopping, I made it over 10,000 steps. It is registered as 10, 783 as I type. I guess that is just about the same as 30 minute cardio on machines. It is another hot evening and I think I should take a shower before trying to sleep. I have three days off from work and I will have to do a lot of volunteer work done within those days.

glad to be back: pedometer and Sears 5/21/06

I decided while on break, I will try to walk Pepper twice a day. Or at least plan so. Sometimes I get caught up in things and I miss walking the dog! Even in this long evening. So I got the morning walk done, but forgot to wear my pedometer. I got back to work at Sears for four hours, but most of the time I was sitting in the training room close to three hours. Even so, for the first hour, I was still being useful (which surprised me actually) one way or another and was walking around the store. I got talking with some In Store Support people, cashiers and of course, people from softline. It was nice to see familiar faces and being recognized. As of 5:45pm, pedometer reads 5,300. I know I did my routines at the gym and I walked the dog in the morning, so the evening walk will make 10,000 or equivalent exercise, but I am anxious to see 10,000 on the pedometer. I am thinking about where I can go to get a longer walk with the dog. I think this is the whole reason why people recommend having pedometer. I hope Donnie will get the old one fix and wear it, too.
