a happy woman, I am 12/2/05

Today is Reading Day and no classes, no exams can be scheduled. So I woke up a little before 6 and hit the gym. Today was back day and I swam for 30 minutes. What a way to start a day! Then after this afternoon's meeting, I will get to visit Albuquerque and see the lights. Then tomorrow I will visit Sears Albuquerque store and then go dancing and karaoke later. I am such a happy woman. What else could I ask for?

that white suits 12/1/05

Regular readers may recall I kept working for Albuquerque Sears after giving two weeks notice once a week, just to get discount on clothes because I needed nice suits. One of them fit nice back then when I hit the lowest in weight, but when I wanted to wear it for ATJ Board meeting in September, it didn't fit. It is a very nice looking suits and when I tried it on back in July, I felt like I could teach at a university. Quick forward. Before I know it, today is the last day of instruction of my very first semester here at SMU. I am wearing that white suits, reflecting what happened in the last four months. This may mean that I have somewhat gotten smaller since September and gone back to where I was in July. But the scale doesn't budge. That is OK, I guess. I will get to breathe the air in Albuquerque tomorrow. Can't wait.

missing another workout day, but hey 11/30/05

Tomorrow is the last day of instruction! Time flies when you are having fun. As soon as I thought I got used to it, it is today! No kidding. Tomorrow I have to take up an extra class because Taguchi sensei took care of my class while I was in Baltimore. So I basically gave up totally on going to the gym up till tomorrow. But starting Friday, I don't have classes to teach every morning! I will go to the gym everyday! YEEEEEEY.

under the weather, eating a lot? 11/29/05

I think I start to understand Dallas weather now. There was a teacher in JTAT (Japanese Teachers Association of Texas) who put it this way. Fall in Dallas goes like this. Very slowly some cooler day pops out and gradually the interval of such colder days get shorter. Now the norm is cool and the interval of warm weather gets more sporadic. However it never ceases to surprise me that I still hear the high temperature almost hits 80's even now. For that, I was sleeping in short sleeves a couple of nights ago and I was wearing a jacket in the office yesterday. Taguchi sensei thought it was a little odd and said maybe I am under the weather. Another odd thing about me yesterday was I couldn't stop eating. I was eating raisins and granola bar in the office and 2 ears of corn, packets of 雑炊 and regular yogurt snack at home. I can't be catching a full cold now, so I had Airborne (see 11/22/05 entry) last night and practically did nothing, watching TV for 2 and half hours. I also had one this morning. Let's see how it goes.

back in the desert 11/28/05

I have four more teaching days left and I am preoccupied with the thought of visiting Albuquerque this weekend. This came as a surprise opportunity since Sears didn't schedule me at all this week. I even made sure I was not reading the schedule wrong or anything. Because this is a short notice, short trip, I have four things I want to accomplish and I am focused on them. If I had a chance, I would love to visit Defined Fitness on Juan Tabo again. But if I can put up with Gold's Gym, looks like I don't have to pay. Next time, I want to have a longer visit, maybe stay with friends rather than at a hotel and want to be there when Will is giving his yoga class. I really miss doing yoga, but most of all, Will's class. I haven't done any yoga class since I came to Dallas. My DVD has not been set up yet and my yoga mat stays snuggle on the corner of the dining area. Grrr.

holiday workout 11/27/05

Today was a lucky day off for me. I woke up around 6:30 and hit the gym. Today was no ab day, chest/shoulders/tricep. In the evening, the free weights area is too crowded and I can't go in. I usually like free weights better than machines, but I particular prefer for this routine. I did 25 pounds on chest press. This gym doesn't have 22.5 pounds dumbbell and I wish they did. I did everything without a big hitch and found an empty lane to swim for 30 minutes. Except the big shopping day, I manage to go to the gym this holiday and boy, I enjoyed it! I know I probably have to skip workout tomorrow. Thursday is my last day teaching and this is literally the last stretch. がんばるぞん。
