pedometer's clip broken! 11/12/05

After I got out of the car yesterday morning, I heard a "snap" noise. It was the clip of the pedometer. A small plastic part that attaches the clip to the metal part broke off. I asked Rosemary to look for super glue, but we only had one for doing crafts kind of thing. She doesn't think super glue would work, either, because that is where the pressure goes. I can't quite find the word, but there must be something that is strong enough and permanent. So I kept in the pocket yesterday. Yesterday was the first day of the film festival and I enjoyed going up and down to the third floor of the famous Dallas Hall. But still a little over 5000 steps. Grrrr.

sloppy record keeping, sloppy workout 11/11/05

I made it to the gym yesterday with socks, clothes, water, shoes and everything equipped! However I forgot to pack blank logs and the last column that I had was last Friday, which I didn't make it. So I went ahead and scratched the day and replaced with yesterday's. Of course, I didn't make it on the weekend and I think I only went Tuesday this week (?). I write it in here, but I never recoded on the log. If the record keeping goes sloppy, it means workout is also sloppy. Grrrr.

heart rate up with Margarita 11/10/05

I became a casual drinker after I moved to Dallas. I have been enjoying Margarita occasionally with friends, especially when I visited San Antonio last Christmas, but it was never a regular thing. Since it is just so hot here in Dallas and while searching for a good Mexican restaurant, I started the search for good Margarita here, too. The problem of that is, I am still pretty prone to alcohol and I end up spending a lot of money for food and have to sit in the restaurant for a long time to recover. The better Margarita, more tequila and it is not unusual I have to wait an hour before I actually stand up and drive. Yes, one. And I found out it isn't easy to purchase alcohol in non-restaurants as in New Mexico. So it has been a while I got a complete Margarita kit at home and have been enjoying it once in a while. Yesterday I broke down and bought a new ice breaking blender! Even at home where I can control the amount of tequila and I think I add less than half, shot glass (I no longer have one.), I get pretty drunk fairly easily. My heart rate goes up so high. I wonder if that is almost equal to exercising? When you are in love, they say you lose weight because your heart beats so fast?

home in Albuquerque? 11/9/05

I didn't make it to the gym yesterday either. I had a pending online shopping problem and I needed to get home early to take care of it. Would I make it to the gym today? Meanwhile I am trying to make a quick escape back to Albuquerque. I have a few friends who offer me a place to stay when I visit, but I think I am just going to stay at this Candlewood Suite hotel. As a local, of course, I never got to stay, but I know this is one of the newer hotels on Menaul, just west of University. (ahhh, just writing this almost makes me cry) I was thinking about visiting my good old Defined Fitness, but here it says, I will have a free access to Gold's Gym. That must be the one on Montgomery and San Mateo. Not exactly a walking distance, but hey, it is close enough by car. Besides I never got to go there, so I'm kind of looking forward to it. Let's see if I can really make it to Albuquerque. And when?

goof, a series of goof, again! 11/8/05

So yesterday I decided that it is my physical need that I have to follow and decided to head to the gym. I can never decide where to turn left to go west and I passed, Northwest highways, Forest and I meant to turn on Royal. I guess I was too busy singing and missed turn on Royal. Then when I saw LBJ coming up, I realized I should have gone service road. (I only go as far as Midway and take that up to Trinity Mills lately.) Then I missed another turn on Belt Line! I have been here over three months and I am still doing this, "Does this road meet with..?" routine. My thick book of Dallas maps is neatly concealed in the back. I ended up going on Campbell, didn't turn on Preston, because Trinity Mills doesn't show up there (in my recollection). Then before I know it, Campbell somehow became north west road and met up with Frankford! That is NORTH of Trinity Mills! After 35 minutes of goofing around, I finally made it to the gym. Then I found that there are no socks! No wonder bottle! The gym didn't have small towels at all. So I just did 30 minutes of cardio on sneakers on bare foot and stretched. Grrrrr.

just shoulders and cardio, ah, and maybe ab? 11/7/05

I consider myself being in the two weeks of hell and made myself convinced that I shouldn't get upset if I can't make it to the gym before I leave for ACTFL. Amazingly I managed to stay away from the gym for the weekend! Yesterday I meant to go for a swim if everything finished and as you can tell, I didn't finish everything. However I am starting to feel my shoulders getting tighter. Maybe I will just go for cardio and stretch today. Ah, maybe I will do a quick session of ab, too. Is that OK?

paid workout? 11/6/05

My first day at Sears is set for the day before Thanksgiving and I needed to finish the 4th quarter training as soon as possible because I have to work on preparation for ACTFL. I couldn't pass one little test Friday night, so I had to go back Saturday morning. Then I saw a little sign saying that I have to contact LP (Loss Prevention) to go through their training. I was given a sheet of paper with questions and the point was if I didn't know the answers, I had to ask around. But can't ask LP guys and ASM's. SO I had to spend about half hour to walk around the store, introduce myself, greet and explain what I am supposed to be doing. Because there was a division 9 question, I went to Tools and a couple of guys were hanging out around the cashwrap and they were most helpful. So I got it done! I looked at the pedometer at the end of the day and it was about 8,000! I consider Sears is a paid workout. So far the store has not looked too busy, but I guess I will see...
