building muscles for high heels 4/22/06

I have an updated version of jumpsuit, too, but I think I will go with this look for the award dinner. This required finding a pair of strappy black shoes. Yesterday I did one of my favorite expressions, giving suggestions, and asked for advice on how to get a boyfriend. I had a lot of fun doing this for my ESL class before I moved here. My class is full of nice-looking, nicely dressed young men and women, so I have been taking their opinions seriously. One said, ハイヒールをはいたほうがいいですよ (You should wear high heels.) and another said 小さくてくろいドレスをきたほうがいいですよ (You should wear small black dress.) She even did the conjugation for connecting -te form for adjectives! I usually don't wear high heels, so I decided I should practice. On top of that, my feet are extra wide and this is size 10. I think my ideal is 8 1/2 W. So I have been wearing them doing shopping. I feel new muscles are being developed in my legs. Let's see.

jump suit 4/20/06

There are two more weeks to go for my semester and events are getting packed! Ceremony for this and dinner to honor that person and it will be more difficult to get to the gym when these events are in the evening. Tonight is one. I am supposed to do a cooking demo/session at a dorm. Tomorrow is another. Japan Club is hosting a dinner at a restaurant in Irving. Then Monday, there is Convocation and the list goes on.

Perhaps the biggest and definitely most formal that I have ever attended will be the Japan America Society's award dinner to honor George Takei (known best from Star Trek). Taguchi sensei told me it is a VERY formal dinner and her husband wears taxedo for the occasion. She said a lot of women wear kimono and really skimpy dress exposing skin to the max. I have some evening dresses (TVI students gave me gift certificate!), but I thought I would look around in Junior's section. I thought I would take advantage of associate discount at Sears.com and inconveniently, prom dresses are temporarily out of stock. So I went to Valley View store physically and they do not have a section like Albuquerque store did this time of the year last year. I walked around the mall and J.C. Penny had some and there was a dress store. The store I spent most time on was a store for Junior and I bought this jump suit. I don't know if I actually wear it for the dinner or not yet and I know I will have different shoes, put more make up on, not sure about bra and some jewlerly. But here is what I thought. The only body part that I receive compliments is my legs. A lot of dresses either completely cover legs. When the length is not too long, they often have funky cuts. Although it looks good on just looking at the dress, somehow it doesn't feel right on me. This jump suit actually shows my leg line pretty well and boot-cut like bottom is ce tainly attractive. You can't see it, but my best guess on my butt is quite alright, too. I will have Taguchi sensei look at it tomorrow and ask for her opinion. Let's see.

強力な支配者 4/18/06

There are a lot of beautiful men and women at the gym and a lot of people have tattoos. Having (sometimes funky looking) Chinese/Japanese characters is pretty common. However there was a guy who had 強力な支配者 on his left arm. I can't recall the graphic in the middle, but I was quite impressed with the writing part. He said he had designed it himself and was glad to hear that I taught Japanese at SMU.

I had a good workout of back and ab today. I went back to the steam bath and the mint was back. Thank goodness, if it is just a hot steam, I don't need to go in there. It was 101 yesterday and we broke the record. Today was promised to be the record breaking, too. ああああ。

I am not... 4/17/06

Dallas broke the highest temperature record today! 101!!! ONE HUNDRED AND ONE degrees! It is way too hot to do anything, but the main reason I ended up skipping exercise and walking the dog was not the weather. My turquoise necklace lost hardware to hook into and became unwearable. I could have just fixed it, but I decided to make a bracelet and anklet out of it. I liked the blue version, so I made another one with pink theme. When I do craft projects like this, my time flies. Before I know it, it was dark and way passed my bedtime. OK, OK. I will hit the gym tomorrow.

report on shorts 4/16/06

This holy weekend got me really good. No traveling like last weekend, no heavy duty traveling with hard drive failure like spring break and very rare week of no exam to give in the coming week. Besides the weather is just about perfect. Starting Wednesday afternoon, when I decided to invite my neighbor, Zee, to have a back-yard patio pool party, I have been very, very unproductive. Just to make this part of fitness diary, I will add that working out in the morning has been a little change. I noticed that maybe I have actually gotten used to working out in the afternoon. I noticed I feel a little more stiff when I stretch.

Well, to the main subject. I noticed Armour is spelled with "r" in it. I have lived in the US too long not to be conscious. For the first feel, it was sort of cool and felt good. I checked multiple times in the locker room to make sure I am not exposing and it should have been OK. The 7-inch inseam is a little long, but it is consistent with my old shorts. I am happy to say that I am fitting in size Medium, but because of my tummy fat, the waist part keeps rolling down. I wonder if this is going to be a problem. So far it seems it was worth the investment, if I can keep this at least two years. The feel of the shorts was good enough and made me think to get a matching workout bra. However that is far more difficult. I guess I will check out on their web site, but it will be another $150 or so, so I am not doing that right now...
