slight weight reduction 2/24/05

Today I put my courage together and got on the scale at the gym. Over the weekend, Ochiai sensei's husband was telling me that 3-5 pounds difference in weight is normal. The result? It was 8 pounds lighter than I usually claim it to be. Is my weight finally coming down? Because of my rigorous cardio training (currently ArcTrainer cardio level 5)? Or brown rice? Or...?

brown rice holds more 2/23/05

If you have a shift like 6am to 4, 5, 6pm, you end up eating breakfast around 5:30am. Then you don't get a break if you don't insist. I am finding brown rice really holds longer. Yesterday I finally got lunch break around 2pm, but I survived. But if I am home, I eat bananas and apples...

three-day no workout! 2/22/05

I just printed out my workout log and I am appalled to report that I haven't gone to gym or done any exercise at all for the last three days! And I am extra tired. Tomorrow I should do an extensive exercise, legs and abs, plus stretch. Ah, how much I look forward to it!

30,000 steps! 2/21/05

After coming home close to midnight last night, I had to go to Sears at 6am and had 11 hours shift then I had to do the weekly food shopping. I made over 30,000 steps today! For some reason, I had a LOT of aerobic steps today. 1988 steps over 19 minutes. 1099 calories burnt and over 10 miles walked. My thighs hurt a little bit, but I am in good shape. I am sure I will need to do a good back stretch pretty soon. However tomorrow is another 6am start. Wednesday will be legs and abs...

cholesterol, tofu 2/20/05

Talking health issues is definitely a middle-aged thing and I was doing exactly that with Ochiai sensei, who was kind enough to host me for this Arizona workshop trip. I am rather high in cholesterol (results of Health Fair will come in a future entry) and I voiced my concern with the fact I always have two eggs in the morning. Ochiai sensei thought it was too much and recommended me to have some tofu as protein source. Her husband is doing no rice diet for dinner and he eats tofu in lieu of white rice at night. Gee, then I have to find quality tofu that I can enjoy eating raw.
