Bally 7/23/05

It is extremely important to visit a gym as a guest and actually workout, not just browsing and looking. I found out about it by working out at Bally today. I decided not to join this gym, but I thought I would be happy with the facility. The reasons were: hours, location and payment policy. However once I started to workout ($10 guest), I noticed a few things. They do not have my favorite ArcTrainer. The radio to listen to TV's has bad reception. People leave plated and dumbbell all over the place and they are not organized at all in the rack. Children roam around the floor. The place is not too big and if you have to use particular machine now, you may need to wait. I liked Stretch Station by Gary Gray. Today was back and ab day and even after fair amount of stretch on the floor, I felt a few cracks on this thing. Innovative!

last trip to Dallas 7/22/05

Well, I am writing this from the Albuquerque airport. This is going to be my last trip to Dallas. After the move, it is going to be my town. I wanted to take a smaller suitcase today, but I have my workout clothes packed (no swmming suit). I probably just do some cardio at the hotel today or maybe go to that 24-hour fitness since I still have a free pass. I may go to Bally's tomorrow and pay 10 dollars as a guest and do a good workout. Although I decided not to join them, I consider it is still a good gym providing good services and equipment. On Sunday, I probably don't have a whole lot of time. I may just decide to do some treadmill at the hotel or go to Defnied straight and do shopping later. Last time when I was at the same hotel, I didn't go into the exercise room, so I really don't know what they have. But I am assuming at least I can get decent cardio workout done. Let's wait and see.

hooked on ginger 7/20/05

Because I have only two jobs (instead of three), I have more time to stand in the kitchen and actually entertain the idea of what to cook these days. On top of that, there have been party after party and I have been paying more attention in cooking these days. Marinating in sake has always a big thing for me, but recently I started to do that with fresh ginger. Oh, boy, it is good. Not only red meats, I did that with shrimp to grill yesterday with a little bit of salt. That is really all you need for the taste. Natural flavor of shrimp comes out nicely. Wow.

19 days and counting down 7/19/05

Today I managed to go to the gym and did a really short version of legs and ab routines. The scanner says I have been there 19 days in the last 30 days. I know I probably won't be there tomorrow (Tapped In festival) and definitely not on Thursday (another Sears day). I should probably try to make it tomorrow because it is a back day with the smallest number in routine set and no ab. Then Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I will be in Dallas again. I think I will just plan on doing cardio in the hotel on Friday and go to some gym for Saturday. I may be able to go to my gym in Albuquerque if I come home early enough. So, the number 19 is only going to go down. Grrr.

moving is the best workout? 7/18/05

I should have realized earlier, but when I went to the gym and looked at the log, I slowly noticed that I hadn't been there for four days! Thursday, I was at Sears from 6, Friday and Saturday were moving sale. I went in Sears early morning again on Sunday and all four days, I missed the morning workout. However I must admit I have been very physical and feels like most days, I must have made 10,000 steps. Today is turning out to be another physical day. As soon as this New Mexico heat cools down, maybe after 7pm, I will start emptying the third shed. It has A LOT of unusable wood. I don't think it is nice to leave it. If I can't keep up with everything, I will have to wake up early to finish the job. Donnie, from Sears, is going to make another run to the city dump. I will be dressed for physical work again tomorrow.

how to make 10,000 steps without working at Sears 7/17/05

Today I decided to go in before the store opens and of course, made close to 15,000 steps. (I have to admit about 1,500 was from actually last night at a night club.) Still I try to make 10,000 steps everyday. What I have been doing is I get about 3,000 or so by the time I am done with the class in the afternoon. Then I walk the dog and that 30 minute walk adds about 3,000 or so. I went to a night club where they have Thalia's songs in karaoka, so I have been singing and rehearsing about an hour or so. That eventually adds to 10,000 steps. Tomorrow is another Monday. I hope to make it to Will's yoga class.
