a little sore 6/22/06

I mentioned I used 30 lbs. DB for chest exercise yesterday and I noticed that I was a little sore. On top of that, I had 11-5 shift and had to make a few phone calls, I didn't go to the gym. Instead I walked with the dog twice and did Sara's evening yoga. This is the second time. Doing yoga is a good thing. I realized that if I give Pepper a really big bone, she will be busy at least for the length of the practice. I would go back to the gym tomorrow morning and hopefully build more muscles.

185 lbs. 6/21/06

I believe it has been about a month since I changed my routines to build muscles and I hope I am getting results. Of course, it is hard to see them under my thick layer of fat, but the weight that I lift is gradually increasing. Today I did Dumbbell Bench Press with 30 pounds in each hand! I haven't been in steam room for a long time, so I haven't weighed myself for a while. I did yesterday and the verdict was 185 pounds. All this exercise hasn't changed the weight! If I recall, this is 10 pounds heavier than this time last year. Over a year, the weight actually has crept up. However I am not going to get upset about it nor stop eating good food when I am on vacation. I still fit into the same dress code clothes and I see myself somewhat shrinking. Most in lower arms, I guess. 185 was the weight I got stuck when I first started to exercise, too. As long as I am exercising, healthy and happy, this may be just a good weight. I think I have more muscles now. I need to find out.

maybe yoga DVD tonight? 6/20/06

11-5 shift is not bad. I didn't do the morning walk with Pepper, but I made it to the gym and enjoyed my back and ab routines with lots of time for stretching. Yesterday I was doing forward bending in the breakroom and I felt two big adjustments. It is a little after 6pm now and since it is cloudy today, it is almost OK to walk the dog. Maybe I will do that and eat something light. I must confess I had four donuts sitting in the breakroom today. Big wigs were visiting today and they were probably meant for them, but everybody pretends to be healthy, so three HUGE boxes were sitting there. Then I watch my novela at 7pm and relax, get some stuff done tonight. I close tomorrow, so I can do some daytime stuff done tomorrow. If the dog leaves me alone enough, I will try to do one of Sara's yoga DVD's?

all in the name of shopping 6/19/06

Even three hours of training or four hours of working, putting on dress code puts me into constraint mentally, I guess. I finally got a complete day off after working 12 days straight. Today I decided to be extra super lazy and didn't even go to the gym. Main thing today was just shopping around. I went to Valley View mall (yeah, where Sears is), my favorite Chinese store, Central Market and a supermarket nearby. I did morning and evening walk with the dog. My pedometer almost reads 15,000 steps and this is without going to work. Shopping is the best way to get walking done. I also did some cooking today and I realize from now I have to be in the clearing out the fridge mode. I have about 15 homemade frozen meals. Tomorrow I have to make it to the gym. I know I am getting doctor recommended cardio with walking, but muscles don't get built with walking.

20,000 steps 6/18/06

NBC news is reporting how good Father's Day shopping was a big marketing campaign. Even Dallas store was pretty busy today. I was originally assigned Intimate area, but quickly realized Women's and Men's required a lot of work. So I got to do a lot of walking although it was only 5-hour shift. In fact, we didn't finish closing close to an hour. This means Dallas store was just about as busy as regular Albuquerque store weekend. I didn't walk the dog in the morning, but we did the evening and I am 7 steps away from 20,000 steps as I type. But it also meant I was very hungry when I came back. Starting from shaved ice, I cleaned out the broccoli and crab and yogurt with dried cranberries and peanuts. I don't feel like I need to eat more now. I bought some Japanese goodies in Irving the other day, so I have to be careful when I touch those. Days like today, I would finish whatever I have in front of my eyes. Tomorrow is the welcome day off from Sears after working 12th days straight.
