missed running 5k! 4/9/05

I have been fine and exercising, but I have had internet connection problem from Thursday. Now my connection and wireless is back. One time last week, Sears gave me a Sunday, tomorrow off. I almost fainted because I never get Sunday off. So I almost thought about supporting an organization for at-risk kids by participating Hogares Stride 5000. It is a 5k run and I thought I could try. However yesterday I was told indeed I have to work tomorrow. So I guess I will give up that idea for now. But walking or running even without the dog sounds tempting these days.

cardio theater 4/6/05

I went on ArcTrainer as usual and had to stare at this small device. First I thought it was a heart monitor attached to the machine. Then I read it said cardio theater. I figured that it is probably to listen to what they say on TV. This is actually nice because I bring my radio for just that reason. Those frequencies are in the middle of big radio stations and it is somewhat difficult to perfectly tune. When I am so tired and miss 9 or 10 nightly news, this should come in handy.

new BMI 4/5/05

I figured I would try to calculate my new BMI score. This site from National Heart, Lung and Blood Insitute calculates online (probably using JavaScript) if you know your height in inches and weight in pounds.

BMI Categories:

  • Underweight = <18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight = 25-29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
and I was exactly 30. I have a long way to go. Grrr.

high expectations 4/3/05

So the big conference is over and I am back home. After big event is done on Thursday, more people came to me to comment about my weight loss. This time, I really lost 10 pounds from the last big conference in November. I think it is because I switched to brown rice. Now I am down to 10 pounds more than what I was in the same period in 1995, which was the lowest weight I know in pounds. (Of course, in Japan, we measure in kilograms.) Luckily two presentations were accepted for the November conference, so I will definitely be there. Some said they are looking forward to seeing even slimmer me. My ideal weight is 30 more pounds to go. When I was entering high school I was already 72kg, which should calculate about 150 pounds. I don't think I can lose whole a lot from now. Let's see what happens.
