California Pizza Kitchen 3/25/05

The article about healthy frozen pizza in Health magazine had some pizza from California Pizza Kitchen. Yesterday I found one that says White Pizza. It has spinach, garlic, fontina cheese, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese and romano cheese. It is smaller than Frecheta pizza that I mentioned earlier, but this is just a right size for Friday night feel good snack. Half of the pie has 18 gram of fat, total carb 45 gram and 435 calories. I can always use spinach and it was delicious! The back of the box had some more varieties and now I am pretty sure the kind featured in Health magazine article was California Pizza Kitchen's Margherita pizza. It has olive oil, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, pearmesan cheese and basil. I would like to try that...

pedometer receiving attention 3/24/05

My premium pedometer looks rather geeky and a lot of people think it is a cell phone. I carry it on my back when I am in Sears. I have to do so because I tend to drop it easily if I have it on my sides and I often carry a phone. Today I had a ten-hour day at Sears, walked the dog and kept walking checking students in class. Altogether, I had 29041 steps, out of that, 2344 aerobic steps (walk with the dog), burnt 1062 calories and walked over 10 miles. I have been talking to people at Sears how much I have been walking. People at Sears seem to think their job alone is a good exercise and try to convince their family that they don't need official exercise. Either way, I think it is a good idea to carry a pedometer.

mystery of yoga 3/22/05

I finally made it to Will's yoga class last night! He always asks if anybody is brandnew to yoga and there were a couple of people. So he went warm up and sun salutation rather slowly. We did warrior 1 and 2 for a long time and I am starting to recall that I am going to need a towel with his class soon. For those who think yoga is part napping, part stretch, you should try Will's class. I don't know what about his class, how he structures it or what, but it has a mysterious effect on me. I definitely feel like I go somewhere. It is really hard to come back to reality after the class. I flipped my log and the last time I went to his class was almost a month ago! Therefore I also felt the physical effect today. I did abbreviated version of legs (woke up too late and wanted to do some ab) and I had to spend a lot of time stretching legs. I felt like the class was physically challenging again. Grrr. I should go more often.

legs 3/21/05

I woke up around 5am once and thought I should go to the gym. Instead what I really did was take a bite of apple and went back to bed. Sure enough, I woke up with full sunshine of the desert. I have so much to do today and I don't think I can make it to the gym. Today was supposed to be legs and ab combo, but I noticed that my legs feel a little muscle pain. I couldn't figure out first because I did chest and shoulders yesterday. Then I realized it is because of the running I did! I knew running is a rigorous exercise, but wow. I should keep in mind that I should run occasionally.

20 minute run 3/20/05

I thought new year resolution people have already given up and the gym got quieter. However the gym doesn't open until 8am on Sundays and there is always a line of people are the door. And if I am late 20-30 minutes, then a lot of people are on aerobic machines. All FOUR ArcTrainer machines were taken! So I had no other choice but to get on a treadmill. I didn't have whole lot of time, so I decided to just do 30 minutes. Five minutes warm up and five minutes cool down and 20 minutes inbetween running. I did it in 5 miles per hour pace. It was a little over 2 miles. Next time, I have more time (maybe three hours in the morning), I should try for 3 mile run.
